Ka Ma'o was founded by members of the beloved Hawaiian reggae band The Green, who recognized the profound impact of their experiences in the music industry, both locally and globally. Understanding the challenges they faced while navigating their careers, the founding members envisioned a nonprofit that would provide vital support not only for artists but also for the diverse roles within the music industry that contribute to their success. They believed that by nurturing the next generation of music industry leaders, they could maximize opportunities for Hawaii’s rich musical heritage to reach audiences around the world. Through workshops, mentorship programs, and resources, Ka Ma'o aims to empower emerging talents and ensure that Hawaii's vibrant music scene continues to flourish and expand.
Ka Ma’o is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating the next generation of music industry professionals. Through education, training, and the development of career opportunities both locally and abroad, Ka Ma’o aims to empower aspiring musicians, technicians and industry leaders to thrive in their careers. Join us on this journey to inspire creativity and foster talent in the Hawaii music community!
